Job summary

2XM Recruit is partnering with a well-established Australian engineering business to identify an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer for an exciting portfolio of energy and infrastructure projects in Perth. This senior role leads mechanical and piping scopes across brownfield and greenfield facilities, with offshore/onshore exposure and strong client interaction.

You will provide technical leadership, mentor teams, review calculations and documentation, and drive practical engineering

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in mechanical and/or piping engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Extensive experience across oil & gas, LNG, hydrogen, energy or major process facilities.
• Experience across brownfield and greenfield environments.
• Experience offshore and/or onshore facilities.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment, piping systems, materials and valves.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical and piping engineering scopes from concept through to detailed design.
• Develop engineering solutions for new and existing facilities.
• Review layouts, engineering concepts and proposed design changes.
• Provide technical input during concept development and option selection.
• Prepare and review calculations, reports, datasheets and technical documentation.
• Review mechanical and piping design deliverables.
• Manage interfaces between mechanical, piping and other engineering disciplines.
• Work directly with client engineering and project representatives.
• Support technical discussions with vendors, suppliers and fabricators.
• Review supplier documentation and technical submissions.
• Participate in tender and technical bid evaluations.
• Manage technical queries, deviations, modifications and design changes.
• Support resolution of engineering issues for operating facilities.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and designers.
• Maintain engineering quality and technical integrity throughout project delivery.

About the Role

This position will suit an experienced Mechanical / Piping Engineer with a strong background in energy, oil & gas and major process facilities.

You will provide technical leadership across a range of projects, working closely with clients, project engineers, designers, suppliers and other technical specialists to develop and deliver practical engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

As the Principal Engineer, you will provide senior technical input across mechanical and piping engineering activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading mechanical and piping engineering scopes from concept through to detailed design
• Developing engineering solutions for new and existing facilities
• Reviewing layouts, engineering concepts and proposed design changes
• Providing technical input during concept development and option selection
• Preparing and reviewing calculations, reports, datasheets and technical documentation

About You

You will ideally have:

• 10+ years of experience in mechanical and/or piping engineering
• A Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent qualification
• Extensive experience across oil & gas, LNG, hydrogen, energy or major process facilities
• Strong exposure to both brownfield and greenfield environments
• Experience working across offshore and/or onshore facilities
• Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment, piping systems, materials and valves
• Sound understanding of applicable engineering codes and industry standards
• Experience assessing existing facilities and developing modification solutions
• Experience working within complex multidisciplinary project environments
• Strong client interface and stakeholder management capability
• Experience reviewing and approving engineering calculations and deliverables
