Job summary

RPS, a Tetra Tech company, is seeking a Principal Marine Scientist to join our Perth team. You will lead delivery of complex marine environmental projects, mentor staff and shape the future of our Marine Science capability.

You will collaborate with specialists across hydrodynamic modelling, metocean studies, marine ecology and coastal engineering, while developing client relationships and pursuing new business opportunities in water quality, sediments and benthic ecology.

Qualifications

Degree in Marine Science or related discipline.
Postgraduate qualification or PhD highly regarded.
Extensive experience delivering marine environmental monitoring projects.
Expertise in water quality, sediment quality and marine environment assessments.
Strong understanding of coastal infrastructure, ports or offshore energy projects.
Experience managing multidisciplinary projects and complex client programmes.
Proven success in business development, proposals and client relationships.
Experience leading and mentoring technical teams.
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and report writing.

Responsibilities

Lead delivery of complex marine environmental and coastal projects from proposal to completion.
Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary project teams.
Develop and maintain relationships with government and private sector clients.
Identify opportunities for business development and prepare proposals and tenders.
Lead water quality, sediment quality and benthic ecology investigations and reporting.
Implement QA processes against industry guidelines and standards.
Provide strategic technical advice on marine environmental management and approvals.
Plan and oversee marine field programmes, including vessel surveys.
Prepare and review high-quality technical reports and management plans.
Manage project commercial performance including budgets, schedules and risk.
Mentor senior, graduate and early-career marine scientists.
Collaborate nationally with specialists across related disciplines.
