National Heavy Vehicle Regulator in Parramatta, NSW, seeks a senior legal professional with 7+ years of experience across commercial, property and technology law. The role offers flexibility with hybrid work and can be based in Adelaide, Brisbane, or Parramatta.

You will advise on contracts, leases and IP, lead negotiations with diverse parties, and help shape NHVR’s legal strategies while managing risk and ensuring governance standards.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience as a legal practitioner in commercial/regulatory law.
• Admission to practice law in the High Court or a State/Territory Supreme Court.

National Heavy Vehicle Regulator - Parramatta NSW

Are you a legal professional with 7+ years’ experience across Commercial, Property, and Technology law? If you're looking for a flexible role with a regulatory focus, the NHVR could be your ideal next step.

This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact and can be based in either Adelaide, Brisbane or Parramatta. You’ll report directly to the Manager of Legal Services and be part of a supportive, high-performing legal team.

You’d be expected to:

• Advise on contracts, leases, intellectual property, procurement, compliance and insurance matters
• Lead or support negotiations with suppliers, government bodies, private entities and other parties
• Provide legal advice and support relating to commercial contracts, MOUs, leases, licences, intellectual property protection, consumer law, procurement and probity, privacy and data protection, risk management, corporate compliance and insurance.
• Help shape NHVR’s legal strategies and policies
• Promote legal risk management aligned with NHVR’s governance standards

About You

• Strong experience in commercial law and contract negotiation
• Strong experience in software contract review and preparation
• Experience in commercial leasing transactions including leases, licences, deeds of variation and other tenure related matters
• Ability to strategically manage legal risk
• Commercially minded and outcomes focused
• Excellent communication and client service skills
• Confidence in negotiating and influencing stakeholders
• Integrity and alignment with NHVR’s values

To be successful in this role you will possess

• At least 7 years’ experience as a legal practitioner in commercial/regulatory law
• Admission to practice law in the High Court or a State/Territory Supreme Court
• Proven ability to work strategically, flexibly, and independently
