A&Co Recruitment Partners is seeking a Principal Financial Accountant to join our Adelaide team. You will report to senior leadership and partner with the executive team to drive financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and taxation across a fast-paced professional services firm.

The role involves leading month-end close, statutory reporting, and performance dashboards, while coaching junior staff and collaborating with Partners to deliver commercial insights.

Qualifications

• CA or CPA qualification required.
• Experience in a Big 4 accounting firm.
• Minimum 3 years of commercial accounting experience.
• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills.
• Excellent knowledge of Australian accounting standards and taxation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare statutory financial statements and tax obligations (BAS/FBT).
• Lead budgeting, rolling forecasts and cash flow planning.
• Provide financial analysis and business insights to senior leadership.

Working closely with the senior leadership team, you will play a key role in the firm's financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, forecasting, taxation and continuous improvement initiatives.

This role is ideally suited to an ambitious qualified accounting professional who has built a strong technical foundation within a Big 4 accounting firm and has subsequently demonstrated success within a complex commercial environment.

The Opportunity

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparation of monthly financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow reporting.
• Management of month-end and year-end close processes.
• Preparation of statutory financial statements and taxation obligations, including BAS and FBT.
• Annual budgeting, rolling forecasts and cash flow management.
• Financial analysis, performance reporting and business insights for senior leadership.
• Analysis of profitability and key business drivers, including the development of performance dashboards.
• Preparation of executive and board-level reporting packs.
• Driving process improvement, systems optimisation and reporting enhancements.
• Providing support, coaching and development to a Graduate Accountant.
• Building strong relationships with Partners and key stakeholders across the firm.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• CA or CPA qualification (essential).
• Experience gained within a Big 4 accounting firm.
• At least 3+ years' commercial experience following your move from public practice.
• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise.
• Excellent understanding of Australian accounting standards and taxation requirements.
• Advanced Excel and financial systems capability.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
• Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to quality.
