Job summary

WSP is seeking a Principal Environmental Consultant to lead environmental assessment and planning projects across the WA resources sector. You will mentor a team of environmental professionals, coordinate multidisciplinary work, and manage client relationships on high-impact initiatives.

The role requires 10+ years in environmental planning, strong knowledge of Australian environmental policy, and proven capability in delivering complex approvals on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Urban Planning, Ecology, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in environmental planning and approvals.
• Experience leading projects related to environment impact assessment and approvals, especially in WA resources sector.
• Demonstrated knowledge of environmental legislation and policy frameworks within Australia.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver environmental assessment and planning projects, including EIS, SSI, SSD, MID, and REFs.
• Mentor and support a team of environmental professionals.
• Provide senior level coordination within a multidisciplinary team to ensure successful delivery of environmental approvals.
• Develop and maintain effective client relationships, acting as primary contact on key projects.
• Contribute to work winning and business development, including preparation of fee proposals.
• Collaborate with leadership, client teams, project management, and specialists to provide strategic environmental advice.
• Represent the organisation at industry forums, conferences, and client meetings.
• Ensure activities comply with environmental legislation and ethical standards at local, state, and federal levels.
• Prepare and review submissions, permit applications, and impact assessment documentation.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities to ensure timely and successful approval outcomes.
