Job summary

Babcock Australasia is seeking a Principal Engineering Technician Certification to plan and apply advanced engineering and certification knowledge to coordinate and assure the certification and compliance of ANZAC Class vessels throughout their lifecycle.

You will lead surveys, certification activities and compliance management, providing expert advice, coordinating stakeholders and developing leadership within the engineering and seaworthiness functions.

Qualifications

  • Australian Citizenship with ability to obtain Defence Security Clearance
  • Technical qualification in related discipline
  • Approximately 8 years relevant experience in technical/engineering roles
  • Approximately 2 years of experience in managing applicable engineering function and/or technical delivery
  • Good understanding of engineering toolsets (PLM or MRP, design, simulation and analysis software)
  • Proven experience in systems/safety engineering or ship maintenance management
  • Ship Survey and Class Society Liaison experience (desirable)

  • Conduct complex technical investigations and analyses to provide data for problem assessment and design improvements.
  • Lead technical investigations and analysis applying technical judgement from experience as part of decision making and recommendation.
  • Apply knowledge to produce and review technical documentation and solutions (DoA).
  • Lead accurate and appropriate technical documentation records in the data management system for through-life knowledge capture.
  • Provide engineering advice to maximise knowledge transfer and build operational capability.
  • Make complex engineering decisions throughout the lifecycle of the program/product.
  • Have a good understanding of design, analysis, manufacturing and support techniques.
  • Produce and review engineering processes to ensure integration with all operational areas.
  • Develop sustainable and innovative solutions and processes for the organisation and community.

About The Role

About The Role

Your responsibilities are included but not limited to:

  • Lead technical investigations and analysis applying technical judgement from experience as part of decision making and recommendation.
  • Apply knowledge to produce and review technical documentation and solutions in support of assigned task (in accordance with applicable DoA).
  • Lead accurate and appropriate technical documentation records being securely developed and maintained in the appropriate data management system to support through life knowledge capture.
  • Provide good engineering advice in area of technical or operational expertise & experience to the wider Babcock as necessary to maximise knowledge transfer and build operational capability.
  • Expected to make complex engineering decisions throughout the lifecycle of the program/product.
  • Have a good understanding of the design, analysis, manufacturing and support techniques associated with their discipline.
  • Have a satisfactory awareness of techniques and technologies that may interface with products and own discipline.
  • Produce and review technical engineering processes to ensure integration with all operational areas.
  • Produce and review business development artifacts to facilitate the development of successful bids (in accordance with applicable DoA).
  • Lead development of sustainable and innovative solutions and processes for the benefit of the organisation, the community and the world.

About You

  • Australian Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance
