Job summary

LAB 3 Pty Ltd in Canberra is seeking NV1 security cleared Principal Engineers with deep Azure Cloud & DevOps expertise to lead and deliver technical solutions for clients. Both permanent and contract roles are available, with a focus on modern cloud patterns and high-impact engagements.

Ideal candidates will drive architectural reviews, mentor engineers, and partner with project managers to shape schedules and outcomes while supporting pre-sales activities and PoCs.

Qualifications

• Experience engineering in Azure cloud environments and delivering cloud-based solutions.
• Strong understanding of DevOps practices and IaC tooling.
• Security cleared (NV1) or ability to obtain NV1 clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering engagements for Azure assessments, solutions and implementations.
• Provide architectural reviews and SME guidance on Azure patterns and designs.
• Collaborate with clients to translate business needs into cloud solutions and present findings to stakeholders.
• Support pre-sales with technical input, design documentation and PoC prototypes.

Lab3 is one of the largest Azure engineering practices in the Australasia region with a focus on Cloud & DevOps, Data, IoT & AI, Modern Workplace, Modern Apps & Integration, Security , andNetwork services.

We are accepting Expressions of Interest for a NV1 security cleared Principal Engineers , ideally based in Canberra, with deep experience in Azure Cloud & DevOps tolead, deliver and support the execution of technical solutions that meet our clients’needs. We are open to permanent and contract employees- with multiple roles open, we are likely to take a mix of both.

Please note that this is not yet a live role (but is likely to become one soon) , so delays in screening may occur.

The role

• Actas the lead Engineerfor technical client engagements in deliveringand overseeing Azure assessments, solutions, and implementations forour client(s)
• Engineer, advise and implementon appropriate state-of-the-art technical patterns on Azure
• Provide technical reviews on architecture and design deliverables whilst supporting engagements as a SME.
• Participate in the consultation between LAB3 and clients to understand strategic business requirements and translate those into effective cloud solutions.
• Communicate and present discoveries to senior management and executive stakeholders
• Partner with the Project Managers to provide technical input into scheduling, estimating activities and project delivery
• Support our pre‑sales teams with documentation, design and transformative direction. Help setup proof‑of‑concept prototypes
• Identify , interpret, and communicate meaningful insights via workshops, presentations, and reports
• Run workshops and cloud adoption activities with our customers as necessary.
• Recommend client value creation initiatives and implement industry best practices
• Provide technical leadership and be a role model to the engineers.

The ideal candidate:

Will demonstrate strong engineering skills in the following:

• IaC – Terraform, PowerShell
• Azure Resource Manager - ARM Templates and Bicep
• Azure Security Centre Operations
• PowerShell module creation and management

Experience withOpen-source containers (AKS Kubernetes) is desirable.
