Coogee Chemicals Pty invites applications for a Principal Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer to join our Major Projects team on a permanent full-time basis in Western Australia. You will lead complex EIC scopes from feasibility through commissioning and handover, coordinating internal teams with consultants, suppliers and contractors.

You will bring a degree in Electrical Engineering, 10+ years in EIC engineering within mining/energy/processing sectors, and strong project leadership.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering and eligibility for Engineers Australia membership at Professional Engineer grade.
• Minimum of 10 years’ EIC engineering experience in mining, energy or process manufacturing sectors.
• Demonstrated capability in EIC design, control systems, commissioning, acceptance testing and major project delivery.
• Strong project management capability, including cost, schedule, contracts, contractors and compliance management.
• Sound analytical, problem-solving, decision-making and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the scoping and delivery of electrical, instrumentation and control projects across the full project lifecycle.
• Coordinate and review EIC design deliverables to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and Coogee specifications.
• Prepare scopes of work, tender packages and technical evaluations for consultants, contractors and vendors.
• Undertake and review engineering studies, designs, calculations and technical analyses.
• Manage external design consultants, suppliers, subcontractors and contractors to meet safety, quality, cost and schedule targets.
• Oversee installation, inspection, testing and commissioning per approved design and verification documents.
• Prepare capital requests, cost forecasts, estimates and schedules, and report on progress.
• Ensure comprehensive project handover with commissioning records and as-built docs.
• Develop and improve EIC standards, procedures and project delivery practices.
• Promote a positive safety culture and deliver works without recordable injuries.

About the Role

Coogee is seeking a Principal Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer to join our Major Projects team on a permanent full-time basis. We are open to considering strong Senior/lead E&I Engineers with the experience and technical capability to succeed in this role.

Reporting to the Manager Major Projects, you will provide senior technical expertise across the scoping, design and delivery of E&I projects. You will coordinate engineering activities from feasibility and design through to construction, commissioning and handover.

This is an opportunity to take technical ownership of complex projects while working closely with internal teams, consultants, suppliers and contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the scoping and delivery of electrical, instrumentation and control projects across the full project lifecycle.
• Coordinate and review EIC design deliverables to ensure compliance with statutory requirements, engineering standards and Coogee specifications.
• Prepare scopes of work, tender packages and technical evaluations for consultants, contractors and vendor packages.
• Undertake and review engineering studies, designs, calculations and technical analyses.
• Manage external design consultants, suppliers, subcontractors and contractors to achieve project safety, quality, cost and schedule requirements.
• Oversee installation, inspection, testing and commissioning in accordance with approved design and verification documentation.
• Prepare capital requests, cost forecasts, estimates and schedules, and report project performance and progress.
• Ensure comprehensive project handover, including commissioning records and complete as-built documentation.
• Develop and continuously improve EIC standards, specifications, procedures and project delivery practices.
• Promote a positive safety culture and deliver works without recordable injuries or reportable environmental events.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

• A degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) and eligibility for Engineers Australia membership at Professional Engineer grade.
• A minimum of 10 years’ EIC engineering experience within the mining, energy or process manufacturing sectors.
• Demonstrated capability in EIC design, control systems, commissioning, acceptance testing and major project delivery.
• Strong project management capability, including cost, schedule, contracts, contractors and compliance management.
• Sound analytical, problem-solving, decision‑making and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and provide technical leadership.
