Job summary

MYOB is seeking a Principal Developer in our Data & AI team to shape technical direction, architecture, and quality across products. You will write production-ready code, tackle complex engineering challenges and mentor teams to adopt AI-assisted engineering and automation tools.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on coding experience across the full software development lifecycle.
• Strong knowledge of software design principles and architecture patterns.
• Experience designing large-scale product applications with emphasis on quality and maintainability.
• Proficiency in .NET, JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Experience delivering cloud-based solutions with Azure and/or AWS.
• Track record of coaching engineers and lifting team capability.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted software development tools and automation.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across multiple product development teams, guiding architecture and engineering quality.
• Design, build, test and support product applications end-to-end while remaining a hands-on contributor to production-ready code.
• Develop scalable AI-enabled solutions, including LLM integrations, agentic workflows and intelligent automation.
• Champion engineering practices such as TDD, automated testing, CI/CD and delivery pipelines.
• Coach and mentor developers, fostering a strong culture of craftsmanship.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, engineering and delivery stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Guide the safe and practical adoption of AI-assisted engineering tools in line with MYOB’s standards.

About the role

As a Principal Developer within our Data & AI team, you’ll help shape the technical direction, architecture and quality of the products we build. This is a highly influential, hands‑on role where you’ll write production-ready code, solve complex engineering challenges and work across multiple product teams to deliver scalable, well‑designed solutions that create meaningful outcomes for our customers.

Beyond the code, you’ll be a practitioner coach who helps strengthen engineering capability across MYOB. You’ll mentor developers, champion modern development practices and support teams to adopt AI‑assisted engineering and automation tools in ways that improve software quality, delivery and developer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across multiple product development teams, helping guide architecture, design and engineering quality
• Design, build, test and support product applications end‑to‑end while remaining a hands‑on contributor to production‑ready code
• Develop scalable solutions incorporating AI capabilities, including LLM integrations, agentic workflows and intelligent automation
• Champion engineering practices such as test‑driven development, automated testing, continuous integration and continuous delivery
• Coach and mentor developers and senior developers, building capability and fostering a strong culture of craftsmanship
• Collaborate with product, architecture, engineering and delivery stakeholders to turn business requirements into effective technical solutions
• Guide the safe and practical adoption of AI‑assisted engineering tools in line with MYOB’s engineering, security and compliance standards

What we’d love to see from you

• Extensive experience as a Developer or Senior Developer, with strong hands‑on coding capability across the full software development lifecycle
• Deep knowledge of software design principles, architecture patterns and practices such as TDD, BDD, DDD, clean code and refactoring
• Experience designing and evolving large‑scale product applications with a focus on quality, scalability and long‑term maintainability
• Strong capability across development languages and technologies such as .NET, JavaScript and TypeScript
• Experience delivering cloud‑based solutions using Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services
• A track record of coaching and mentoring engineers, with the communication and influencing skills to lift capability across multiple teams
• Working knowledge of AI‑assisted software development tools, automation approaches, web services and third‑party integrations
