About you
St Peter’s Anglican Grammar is unashamedly Christian and seeks to employ Reformed Evangelical Christian staff who can contribute to the vision and mission.
The position of the Teacher is to ensure the pastoral, spiritual and academic needs of all students in their care are met. The successful candidate will be an appropriately qualified teacher with the ability to utilise effective teaching and learning strategies. The candidate will demonstrate strong classroom management skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other staff members to maintain a safe learning environment for all students within the school.
Duties
The duties include, but are not limited to:
- Professionally representing the School in personal presentation, mannerisms and Christ-like service.
- Operating with a high and consistent standard of service.
- Working within the School’s framework at all times.
- Participating in the Christian Life of the School and participating in the wider life of St Peter’s.
- Taking reasonable care for the health and safety of all people who may be affected by the employee’s acts or omissions at work.
- Providing regular and timely feedback to students and families regarding academic progress, behaviour and application.
- Preparing appropriate learning experiences that conform to the School’s requirements and expectations.
- Marking and giving timely feedback for students to assist with student progress and summative reporting.
- Maintaining appropriate levels of classroom management and discipline.
- Actively supervising playground duties, as required.
- Being involved in at least one school-approved co curricular activity per year.
- Actively collaborating with parents, colleagues and external professionals to enhance learning programmes and student outcomes.
- Complying with all expectations outlined in the Staff Handbook, Code of Conduct, Child Protection and other school policies.
- Planning differentiated learning experiences for students based on their specific learning needs within the context of a mixed-ability classroom.
- Implementing, monitoring and reviewing specific adjustments for student learning, behaviour and participation.
- Attending other school-based activities such as parent-teacher evenings, camps, sports carnivals and excursions, as required.
Core Requirements
Christian Faith:
- Are a committed Christian, who is active in the life of a Reformed Evangelical Church.
Qualifications:
- Completed or in your final year of an approved and accredited teaching degree (eg. Bachelor of Teaching – Early Childhood & Primary) or equivalent.
- Registration with NESA – Eligibility to teach in NSW.
Exceptional Interpersonal, Organisational, Communication and Supervision Skills:
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
- Reliable, enthusiastic, flexible with a willingness to learn.
- A preparedness to monitor, have difficult conversations and follow through as necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality and support for the School.
Teaching and Learning (Curriculum):
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in developing and implementing teaching and learning that promotes student engagement.
- Demonstrated experience in maintaining appropriate levels of classroom management and discipline.
- Knowledge of grade level curriculum, assessment and instruction.
- Desire to contribute to a collaborative team.
- Maintain a positive, calm and professional approach.
Experience:
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in a team environment.
