The Role

We’re seeking to engage an experienced Electrical Designer - Primary for our Power & Energy Team in ANZ. Based in either Sydney / Melbourne / Brisbane, you’ll provide a good level of technical design knowledge utilising sound electrical design principles and specialist software skills for the preparation of electrical design models for projects.

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients (internal and external)
• Interpret and document design requirements
• Create designs using more complex design tools and techniques
• Undertake design to a high standard and tight timeframes
• Prepare client and technical reports
• Support other streams in the delivery of high standard designs and verification
• Supervision of drawing production for assigned tasks is undertaken in accordance with SMEC procedures as appropriate
• Write complex reports and undertake peer reviews
• Undertaking filing and calculations in accordance with the project requirements (i.e. calculation packages to include Design Statement, table of contents, etc.)

About You

• Tertiary Qualification (Engineering) or relevant Advanced Diploma from a recognised institution
• At least 8 years’ professional Industry experience in primary substation design
• Utilise mid-level design skills to undertake design on a range of small to medium projects
• Undertake, monitor and manage successfully the design tasks on multiple varying size projects and apply business systems appropriately
• Utilise knowledge gained from exposure to different disciplines and project models
• Apply specific design guidelines.
• Utilise good time management skills with the ability to plan workloads and meet deadlines
• Work effectively across a variety of projects learning new skills and knowledge quickly and efficiently
• Be effective in managing client relationships and expectations (internal and external)
