Job summary

Northern Sydney Local Health District is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Brighter Beginnings Health and Development Checks Preschool Team. You will contribute to developmental surveillance screening for preschool children across NSLHD's early childhood services.

In this role you’ll work within an interdisciplinary team, applying clinical reasoning, guiding families and educators, and supporting identification of health needs before school entry. NSW Health partnership underlines the role.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
• Clinical knowledge and experience in Child and Family Health and/or Paediatric nursing.
• Ability to apply clinical reasoning within scope of practice and elevate when needed.
• Understanding of developmental surveillance and screen-and-refer service.
• Ability to communicate sensitively with families and educators about development.
• Ability to work independently and with a multidisciplinary team in a high-volume service.
• Experience with clinical data and patient-based systems.

Responsibilities

• Be a member of the interdisciplinary Brighter Beginnings Health and Development Checks Preschool Team.
• Help deliver developmental surveillance screening for preschool-aged children in ECEC services.
• BBHDC is a NSW Health/ NSW Department of Education collaboration for early identification.
• Operate within a structured service model across pre-, during- and post-screening phases with primary screening responsibilities.
• Provide guidance to families and educators on accessing Child and Family Health services.
