The apprentice will be supported by the pharmacy team and the chosen training provider, Buttercups Training, throughout the placement. Training materials, dedicated study time, access to distance learning and virtual classrooms, in conjunction with working in clinical settings will help the trainees achieve the required skills and competencies to successfully register as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (the regulatory body for Pharmacy).

These include accurately receiving, dispensing and final accuracy checking prescriptions. With the patient facing nature of the rotations, the post holder will become confident in counselling patients, working as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting patients when transferring between care settings and responding to medication queries. As the trainee develops in their apprenticeship, they will be able to provide technical leadership on medicines optimisation and quality improvement.

Chosen applicants are required to demonstrate excellent communication skills, be able to quickly learn new IT systems, work efficiently, accurately, pay attention to detail and enjoy working as part of a team. You will need to be highly committed and will need to be highly organised, self-motivated and capable of meeting multiple deadlines.
