Job summary

UnitingCare Queensland is hiring for the NQ Safe program in Townsville to provide 24/7 DFV support. The Practice Lead will deliver DFV leadership, risk assessment and coaching to practitioners.

You will develop risk tools, strengthen partnerships, oversee records and compliance, and contribute to service improvement. A tertiary qualification in Social Work or Human Services and minimum five years of DFV experience are required.

Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Human Services or a related discipline.
  • Minimum five years' experience in the human services sector, including specialist domestic and family violence practice.
  • Demonstrated leadership, supervision, coaching, or mentoring experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist domestic and family violence (DFV) practice leadership, advice, and risk assessment support across the NQ Safe program.
  • Partner with the Service Leader to coach and mentor practitioners, enhancing their capability to engage clients and effectively assess, monitor, and minimise risk.
  • Develop and implement DFV risk assessment tools, frameworks, and resources, and build practitioner capability through training and coaching.
  • Develop and strengthen partnerships, referral pathways, and networks to support positive client outcomes.
  • Oversee quality practice standards, client records, reporting, and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to service innovation, continuous improvement, and the implementation of contemporary DFV best practice.

  • Service Hours: The Service is operational 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The hours of work will be on a rotating roster (Morning, Afternoon & Night Shifts).
  • Remuneration: $58.37 p/hr + Super + NFP Salary Packaging (save tax and increase your take home pay)

The NQ Safe Program is a 24/7 Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) telephone service supporting people across North Queensland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist domestic and family violence (DFV) practice leadership, advice, and risk assessment support across the NQ Safe program.

What makes a difference for us?
  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Human Services or a related discipline
  • Minimum five years' experience in the human services sector, including specialist domestic and family violence practice.
  • Demonstrated leadership, supervision, coaching, or mentoring experience.
  • Strong knowledge of DFV risk assessment, safety planning, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culturally diverse communities will be highly regarded.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
  • Current Queensland Drivers Licence.
  • Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
  • A willingness to undergo a criminal history check
