Job summary

Hunter Philips Executive Search is seeking a Power System Engineer for Melbourne to join a leading high-voltage engineering team. You will deliver expert power system studies, model development, and client-facing solutions across Australia, including grid connection, generation, transmission, and distribution projects.

You should be proficient with PSS Sincal, PSS/E, DigSILENT, PowerFactory, ETAP and PSCAD, with strong communication and project management capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Proven expertise in power system analysis for grid connection, generation, and transmission in Australia.
• Advanced proficiency with PSS Sincal, PSS/E, DigSILENT, Python, PowerFactory, ETAP, PSCAD and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Providing support to multiple power projects across Australia.
• Performing analytical studies using PSS Sincal, DigSilent, PowerFactory, PSS/E and other power system analysis software in network planning, protection and distributed generator interconnection.
• Developing power system models for connection of generators, loads, and BESS and configuring them to align with local and national regulations.
• Defining and presenting plans, budgets and risks to clients.
• Providing technical support to the sales team to articulate solutions to clients.
• Generating models, studies and reports for network services providers such as AEMO and developers, etc.
• Supporting project managers and bid coordinators to prepare successful proposals for new work.

The company continues to grow and demand from clients is high, as such they are looking for experienced Power System Engineers to join their Melbourne team. They are also recruiting similar roles for other locations in major cities in Australia.

The Opportunity

As an expert in Power System Engineering, we are looking for individuals who can confidently present outstanding results and outcomes to clients. Your deep technical knowledge means you can manage multiple projects at varying phases,.

Responsibilities will also include:

• Providing support to multiple power projects being delivered across Australia.
• Performing analytical studies using PSS Sincal, DigSilent, PowerFactory, PSS/E and other power system analysis software in the areas of network planning, protection and distributed generator interconnection.
• Developing power system models for connection of the generators, loads, and BESS and configure them to align with the local and national regulations.
• Define and present plan, budgets and risks to clients
• Provide technical support to the sales team in order to enhance their knowledge and ability to articulate to clients
• Generating models, studies and reports for network services providers, including the likes of AEMO and developers etc.
• Supporting project managers and bid coordinators to prepare successful proposals for winning new work

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• You hold a degree in Electrical Engineering
• You have demonstrated experience of working as an expert in power system analysis in grid connection, generation, transmission and distribution systems in Australia.
• You are highly proficient and an advanced user of power system software - i.e. PSS Sincal, PSS/E, DigSILENT, Python, PowerFactory, ETAP, PSCAD and other power system software.
• You have Project Management experience with a commitment for providing excellent customer service across multiple projects.
• Knowledge and experience with planning and connection studies, including load flow and fault analysis.
• You show high attention to detail with strong organisational and time management skills
• You have excellent communication skills and can present verbally or written, detailed, solution focused results to clients with successful deliverables.
• You thrive when able to use innovation, initiative and inquisitiveness, in order to provide positive outcomes for clients.
