Job summary

Lockton Australia is seeking a Business Intelligence Developer to deliver high-quality BI solutions across the organisation from our Sydney office. You will partner with stakeholders to translate reporting needs into Power BI reports, semantic models using star schema, and scalable datasets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, data science, or related field.
• 2–4 years' experience in BI, data analytics or Power BI development.
• Strong Power BI skills: semantic modelling, DAX, Power Query, data transformation, RLS, deployment pipelines.
• Understanding of star schema design, facts, dimensions, and data modelling best practices.
• Experience using SQL to analyse, validate, and reconcile data from multiple sources.
• Proven ability to gather requirements, engage stakeholders, and translate business needs into analytics solutions.
• Experience modernising Excel-based reporting into scalable Power BI solutions; exposure to Azure and Databricks is desirable.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate needs into analytics.
• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, semantic models, and metrics.
• Design and maintain semantic models using star schema with facts and dimensions.
• Analyse data from multiple sources to identify trends and insights for decision-making.
• Transform Excel-based reporting into governed, scalable Power BI solutions.
• Ensure data quality and accuracy through validation and monitoring of outputs.
• Implement and maintain Row-Level Security and secure access to reports.
• Develop and maintain documentation, provide user support, and collaborate with data engineering teams to leverage enterprise platforms (Databricks).
