ROHDE EGG CO. in Blewitt Springs, South Australia, is seeking a motivated Poultry Farm Hand to join the team on a part-time/casual basis (20–30 hours per week). The role involves daily farm duties, from shed checks and feeding to egg packing and routine maintenance.

You will report on daily activities and help maintain farm infrastructure. The ideal candidate has practical farm experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Daily shed checks including feed, water and environmental monitoring
• Egg packing duties when required
• Carry out routine and ad-hoc repairs to farm infrastructure
• Poultry husbandry tasks including weighing birds
• Provide detailed daily reports and maintain logs
• Maintain range and yard areas through mowing, slashing and weed control
• Manage flock turnaround including depopulation, cleanup and rebuilding

Job description

Blewitt Springs Free Range Eggs is a free range egg producer based in the pristine McLaren Vale wine region. The farm is owned by Rohde Egg Co., a multi-generational family owned and operated business who have been producing eggs since 1957.

The farm has capacity for 45,000 chickens across three layer sheds and the eggs produced are graded and packaged at the Rohde Egg Co. facility before being distributed across the state to cafes, restaurants and supermarkets including Coles and Drakes.

The business is looking for a motivated individual to join the team in the Part-Time/Casual (20-30 hours per week) position as Poultry Farm Hand.

About the Role

Responsibilities include:

Daily shed checks and complete feed, water and environment check and floor egg collection.

Egg packing duties when required.

Scheduled and unscheduled repairs and maintenance to fix and/or maintain farm infrastructure.

Poultry husbandry including weighing of birds.

Provide detailed reporting on a daily basis and ensure maintenance logs are completed.

Maintain range and yard areas through slashing, mowing, tree logging and weed control.

Flock turnaround from depopulation stage, to removal of infrastructure, cleaning, rebuild and placement of new hens.

Practical farm experience (preferably with poultry but not essential)
