Macquarie University invites applications for an ARC Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Philosophy of Biology) at the Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde. The appointment is full‑time for three years, with an annual salary package from AU$127,138 plus 17% employer superannuation and annual leave loading.
The appointee will collaborate across philosophy and biology to develop an integrative framework for biological fitness and environmental diversity.
Qualifications
- PhD in Philosophy (awarded) or another field relevant to the research project.
- Demonstrated expertise in Philosophy of Biology and/or Theoretical Biology, with focus on evolutionary biology.
- Strong track record of publications in peer‑reviewed journals at the intersection of philosophy of biology and evolutionary biology.
- Proven ability to conduct interdisciplinary research bridging philosophy with empirical biology findings.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with ability to meet deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Develop an integrative framework for different measures of biological fitness.
- Develop a framework for the environment's role in explanations of adaptation.
- Explore implications of these frameworks for understanding health.
