Job summary

The University of Sydney invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Electrochemical Engineering to join the Electrochemical Engineering Lab led by Dr Fengwang Li. You will design, assemble and test electrochemical reactors, perform performance and durability studies, and contribute to scale-up and system integration while

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Hands-on experience with electrolysers or fuel cells and device assembly.
• Ability to design electrochemical devices and experimental hardware using CAD.
• Experience in chemical process design including material and energy balances and P&IDs.
• Strong understanding of electrochemical performance and transport processes.
• Ability to plan and execute autonomous experimental research and maintain records.
• Strong written and verbal communication with publications or reports.

Responsibilities

• Design, assemble and improve electrochemical cells and reactor prototypes.
• Develop and operate experimental test systems integrating devices with fluids and instrumentation.
• Plan and conduct electrochemical experiments to evaluate performance and durability.
• Apply chemical process engineering to develop process configurations and diagrams.
• Contribute to device scale-up and system integration addressing practical challenges.
• Translate concepts to CAD models and coordinate fabrication and assembly.
• Analyze data, maintain reproducible records and prepare technical reports.
• Collaborate with researchers and mentor students while upholding safety and IP.
