Job summary

Reporting lines include the Project Director and the School leadership. Ideal candidates hold a PhD in a relevant field, with strong CFD, materials testing, and project experience.

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Industrial experience in project engineering/management is desirable.
• Experience with CFD modelling of battery recycling processes.
• Experience with material performance testing and mechanism analysis of battery materials.
• Knowledge of battery materials engineering, polymers degradation kinetics, and advanced characterization methods.
• Experience reviewing patent literature and identifying licensees.
• Experience teaching Professional Engineering & Communication to students.

Responsibilities

• Conduct high-quality research on novel recycling processes for lithium-ion batteries.
• Collaborate with the project team to innovate and optimise recycling technologies.
• Report to the Project Director and coordinate with the School leadership.
• Publish results in academic venues and support grant applications.

Education

PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field

Industrial experience in project engineering/management

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling

Battery materials testing & mechanism analysis

Battery materials engineering & characterization

Assessing commercial viability & patent literature

Teaching Professional Engineering & Communication

Independent research capability

Supervision of research students

Publications, conferences & grant applications
