The University of Queensland is seeking a research-focused scientist in medicinal chemistry within the School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences. You will develop a coherent research program, publish in high-quality outlets, and support translation of research outcomes.

You will supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students, assist in coaching and staff development, and contribute to internal service roles while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Completion or near completion of a PhD in organic/bio-organic chemistry.
• Experience in medicinal chemistry hit-to-lead and/or lead optimisation.
• Knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry to synthesise, isolate and characterise small molecules.
• Experience with analytical and purification equipment.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural, multidisciplinary team.
• Emerging research profile with publications and conference activity.
• Experience in internal service roles and external activities.
• Assay development skills would be highly valued.
