Job summary

Bayside Health in Leongatha, Victoria is seeking a Registered Nurse to undertake the Graduate Diploma of Midwifery while working as a Student Midwife on a 0.6 EFT, 48 hours per fortnight, for a two-year fixed term.

You will provide antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal and domiciliary care within a multidisciplinary team, participate in a rotating roster, and have access to education, on-site parking and career progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse registration with AHPRA.
• Minimum 1-year clinical experience post Nursing Registration.
• Annual completion of Foetal Surveillance Education Program (FSEP).
• Current Neonatal resuscitation and Basic Life Support competency.

Responsibilities

• Provide antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal and domiciliary care.
• Participate in rosters across all shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Manage 24/7 phone triage for maternity patients.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to support student midwifery education.

The Team & Role

Position Summary:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Registered Nurse to complete the Graduate Diploma of Midwifery at Leongatha Hospital. As a Student Midwife you will be supported to participate in providing antenatal care & assessment, labour, post-natal and domiciliary care in collaboration with our multidisciplinary team.

Part-time 0.6 EFT (48 hours per fortnight) across a rotating roster

May be required to work across any Regional Care Group sites

Enrolment in Graduate Diploma of Midwifery, part time over 2 years commencing 2026

Opportunity on completion of contract to apply for available positions within Bayside Health.

Mandatory

Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

Provide all aspects of Antenatal, Intrapartum, Postnatal and Domiciliary Care.

Demonstrated practice within ANCI competencies and Code of Ethics/Professional Conduct.

Annual completion of the Foetal Surveillance Education Program (FSEP)

Current Neonatal resuscitation and Basic Life Support competency.

Ability to work independently with first midwife on call.

Prepare to undertake occasional on call shifts above contracted EFT.

Attend to neonatal and adult resuscitation as BLS responder.

Provide 24/7 Phone triage for maternity patients.

Ability to fulfil rotating roster requirements. Working across all shifts Monday to Sunday, including weekends and public holidays

Flexibility with roster to accommodate University requirements

Valid Police Check

Valid Working with Children check

Minimum 1-year clinical experience post Nursing Registration.
