Overview

SPG is an integral part of the Spotlight Group of Companies, incorporating iconic and trusted brands Spotlight, Anaconda and Harris Scarfe. SPG's property division, which operates and manages all family-owned assets, has grown to Institutional status, Australia-wide and in New Zealand. Due to continued success, a leadership position has been created for a Portfolio Manager based in their South Melbourne support office.

The Position

As the Portfolio Manager, you will have personal responsibility for the management of the company's flagship South Melbourne asset (which includes the company's support group) and lead a small, dedicated team responsible for the management of the company's Victorian and Tasmanian portfolio. You will work closely with the Head of Asset Management in a pivotal leadership role, shaping the strategic direction, operational delivery and financial performance of the entire group's property portfolio, Australia-wide. The Asset Management team are a vital link in the group's chain, which also includes repairs, maintenance, compliance support (for both the property and retail), plus planning and development for the delivery of its new projects and developments. Except for interstate Asset Managers, all resources are located at their South Melbourne HQ.

  • Communication and day to day management of portfolio tenants

About you

We are seeking an experienced property leader who are aligned with the group's values - People, Excellence and Success. It’s a hands-on retail and customer focus role, striving for continual improvement and valuing their relationships, many of which are with tenants in their portfolio and forthcoming developments.

  • 7-10+ years' experience in commercial property asset management, with a preference for large-format retail.
  • Experience leading a team.
  • Demonstrated success in maximising portfolio performance, financial and leasing outcomes.
  • In-depth knowledge of leasing, valuations, compliance, and property law.
  • Strong commercial acumen, analytical, and financial management experience.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Property, Real Estate, Finance, or related discipline (preferred).
  • Proficiency in property management systems, preferably Yardi, and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).
  • Motivated to work in a collaborative environment, promoting a positive office culture.
