Job summary

Sydney Local Health District is seeking a General Porter at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. The role focuses on transporting patients and equipment across the hospital, ensuring comfort, safety and dignity while supporting 24/7 patient flow. You will join a team committed to CORE values and professional service.

The position requires flexibility to work a rotating roster, including nights. Full and part-time permanent roles available with minimum 20 hours per week, total remuneration

• Knowledge of safe working practices and compliance with safety policies and procedures.

• Transport all patients and equipment across Royal Prince Alfred Hospital using appropriate transport modes.
• Deliver timely movement of patients to support patient flow and maintain comfort, safety and dignity.

About The Role

You will be working at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH). It is one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history of serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities. Our facilities and services are world class and our staff are dedicated, innovative and caring. The role of a General Porter is to transport all Patients and equipment across RPAH using the most appropriate mode of transport. Our focus is to ensure the comfort, safety and dignity of patients during transportation and to deliver a professional service in line with our CORE Values. The General Porters service enhances Patient Flow by delivering on the expectation of timely movement of patients throughout the hospital. This position will be working within a 24/7 department and staff will be required to work a rotating roster including night shifts. For more information, please view the Position Description.

Ideal Candidate

• Ability to read and understand written directions.

• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate with clinical staff members, patients and families in a professional and courteous manner.
• Ability to meet the physical requirement of the position including manual handling and walking distances.
