Job summary

ESA Fire is seeking an experienced Portable Fire Technician to join our growing team in Gladstone. This is a full-time, permanent position offering variety across commercial and major industrial sites throughout Gladstone and Central Queensland.

You will manage servicing schedules, inspect and service portable fire equipment, report defects, keep accurate service records and liaise with clients and site representatives, ensuring compliance with Australian Standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Certificate II in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing required.
• Current QBCC licence for Portable Fire Equipment required.
• 2 years' experience as Portable Fire Technician or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of portable fire equipment and servicing requirements.
• Current Australian manual driver's licence.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Professional attitude and commitment to workplace safety.

Responsibilities

• Inspection, testing and servicing of portable fire extinguishers and associated equipment.
• Identifying and reporting defects and providing rectification recommendations.
• Completing accurate service records and documentation.
• Liaising professionally with clients and site representatives.
• Ensuring all work complies with Australian Standards and regulatory requirements.
• Managing day-to-day servicing across multiple client sites.
• Assisting with other fire protection areas when qualified.

The Role

As a Portable Fire Technician with ESA Fire, your responsibilities will include:

• Inspection, testing and servicing of portable fire extinguishers and associated fire protection equipment

• Identifying and reporting defects and providing appropriate rectification recommendations

• Completing accurate service records and documentation

• Liaising professionally with clients and site representatives

• Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with relevant Australian Standards and regulatory requirements

• Managing day-to-day servicing requirements across a variety of client sites

• Assisting with other areas of fire protection where appropriately qualified and licensed

What You'll Need

To be considered for this role, you will need:

• Certificate II in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing

• Current QBCC licence for Portable Fire Equipment

• Minimum 2 years' experience as a Portable Fire Technician or in a similar role

• Strong knowledge of portable fire equipment and servicing requirements

• Current Australian manual driver's licence

The following experience or additional qualifications would be a strong advantage:

• Emergency & Exit Lighting & Non Pumped Fire Hose Reels

• Experience working on industrial, mining or heavy-industry sites

• Additional fire protection qualifications and QBCC licence classes
