Job summary

NSW Department of Communities and Justice – Parramatta NSW is seeking a qualified analyst to join the Economic Evidence team. This role focuses on policy analysis, funding, and investment issues affecting domestic, family and sexual violence programs, with responsibility for supporting NSW Budget processes and delivering high-quality briefing notes.

NSW Department of Communities and Justice – Parramatta NSW

Location - Parramatta with hybrid working options available

Employment type - Temporary full-time role until 30 June 2028

Salary - $116,981.00 - $129,492.00 pa, plus superannuation and leave loading

Your role

Join the Women, Family and Community Safety Directorate and contribute to important policy and reform initiatives that improve outcomes for victim-survivors of domestic, family and sexual violence across NSW.

The Economic Evidence team undertakes economic and policy analysis to inform strategic decision-making related to domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV) initiatives. The team is responsible for coordinating the annual NSW Budget process across the Directorate, and prepares business cases, costings, Cabinet submissions and budget proposals to support investment in programs and services. The team also program manages the Australian Government's 500 Workers Initiative for NSW.

What you'll do

• Research, analyse and provide advice on policy, funding and investment issues affecting domestic, family and sexual violence programs and services.

What we're looking for

In addition to the essential requirements outlined in the role description, we are looking for someone who can:

• Analyse complex policy, funding and investment issues and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations.
• Research, interpret and synthesise information from a range of qualitative and quantitative sources.
• Prepare high-quality briefing materials, submissions, reports and other written products for a variety of audiences.
• Support the development of business cases, budget proposals and investment initiatives.
• Build productive relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across government.
• Manage competing priorities and deliver quality work in a fast-paced environment.
• Contribute positively to a collaborative and high-performing team.
• Demonstrate experience researching, analysing and synthesising complex information from multiple qualitative and quantitative sources.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bring experience in policy development, business case preparation, program evaluation, government budgeting processes, investment planning or economic analysis

Requirements

Tertiary qualifications in public policy, economics, social sciences, law, commerce or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
