Job summary

The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) in NSW seeks a Policy Manager to shape strategic environmental policy and reform across NSW, offered as a flexible job share arrangement, 21 hours per week, with Parramatta or other DCCEEW locations by negotiation and hybrid working.

You will lead major policy initiatives, provide strategic advice, and work with senior leaders, government agencies and stakeholders to influence how NSW protects its natural environment.

• Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $178,315 to $197,753 + super (pro rata)

Our Strategic Policy Science & Engagement team is currently seeking to appoint a Policy Manager to help shape strategic environmental policy and reform across NSW. The role is offered as an ongoing flexible job share arrangement, part-time for 21 hours per week.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute and co‑lead a high‑impact policy development team while

helping to shape the policy decisions that influence how NSW protects and manages its natural environment. Working with senior leaders, government agencies and key stakeholders, you’ll lead major policy and reform initiatives, provide strategic advice and drive outcomes on complex environmental issues. You will contribute to work that has a lasting impact across government, communities and the environment.

About You

You’re a strategic policy professional with experience leading complex policy, legislative or regulatory reform initiatives. Whether your background is in environment, planning, natural resources, regulation or another policy setting, you’re skilled at developing clear advice, leading reform and delivering outcomes in complex environments.

You communicate with confidence, build strong partnerships and bring people together to navigate competing priorities and achieve shared outcomes. You’re comfortable working at pace, exercising sound judgement and influencing decisions in complex and evolving environments.
