Job summary

NWAC Contractors Pty Ltd, an enterprise of Ngaliwurru-Wuli Aboriginal Corporation, seeks a licensed plumber for Timber Creek duties. You will repair and maintain all plumbing systems, coordinate with the CEO and Housing Manager, and may assist other trades as needed.

Hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, 5 days a week, with up to 38 hours weekly. Accommodation is provided (2BR, utilities included) plus a work vehicle and salary sacrifice options.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Plumbing apprenticeship/trade certificate.
  • Experience working as a Plumber.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Child Safety Ochre Card.
  • Current Police Check.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintenance of all plumbing requirements as advised by CEO and Housing Manager.
  • Promote community development and support NWAC objectives.
  • Maintain open dialogue with NWAC CEO, housing staff and NWAC Board.
  • Be prepared to assist other NWAC Contractors staff in other trades when necessary.

LOCATION:

Timber Creek is located on the Victoria Highway approximately 600 kilometres south of Darwin, in an area known for its scenic escarpments and recreational fishing.

SUMMARY:

Repair and maintenance of all plumbing requirements as advised by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Housing Manager. This may at times require working out of normal business hours. Ensure efficient delivery of NWAC Contractors Pty Ltd services, implementation of all policies, adherence to legislative requirements, financial accountability and the promotion of community development, self-management and employment. Maintain open dialogue with the NWAC CEO, housing staff and NWAC Board ensuring a smooth relationship is in place. Because of the sometimes limited plumbing work availability it is necessary for the plumbing (plumber) position to be able to assist other NWAC Contractors Pty Ltd staff in other trade/work areas on occasions and as necessary.

RELATIONSHIP WITH THE CORPORATION:

Promote community development and self-management. Advise and seek instructions from Corporation on policy issues. Provide advice and support to the CEO, President and elected members of Corporation. Support training and education needs of employees. Liaise with members on delivery of services with all relevant information.

HOURS:

The normal work hours for this position will be between NWAC's normal office hours of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM daily, 5 days per week. Up to of 38 hours per week – these hours may vary by mutual agreement from time to time within NWAC's normal office & business work hours of 8:00am to 4:30pm. This position reports to NWAC Contractors Pty Ltd Trades Supervisor & CEO of Ngaliwurru-Wuli Aboriginal Corporation.

CONDITIONS:

Annual Salary: $95,000 (salary sacrifice is available)

Annual Leave: 5 weeks with 17.5% leave loading

Accommodation: 2BR house, including utilities, provided rent-free.

Vehicle: Provided for work purposes only

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Completion of Plumbing apprenticeship/trade certificate.
  • Experience working as a Plumber.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Child Safety Ochre Card
  • Current Police Check
