About The Opportunity

This is a permanent part-time opportunity working 21 hours per week, based at Newpin Port Kembla. The role requires availability from Wednesday to Friday.

Who We Are

The Newpin program specialises in supporting parents to work towards having their children safely returned to their care.

About You In The Role
  1. Facilitate therapeutic play sessions for parents and children (0-5 years).
  2. Support the development of positive parent-child relationships.
  3. Provide strategies to guide children’s behaviour and promote self-regulation.
  4. Implement trauma-informed practices in a safe and nurturing environment.
  5. Collaborate with the team to create stimulating, educational play programs.
About You
  1. Tertiary qualification in a relevant field with experience working with children (0-5 years).
  2. Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and attachment theory.
  3. Experience in developing therapeutic relationships and managing challenging behaviours.
  4. Ability to support parents in developing positive parenting skills.

Appropriate cultural knowledge and understanding of First Nations history, challenges, and protocols are important for delivering effective services. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.
