Job summary

The Shire of Glenelg is seeking a Plant Operator for a 3-month seasonal contract based at the Heywood depot. You will operate a range of medium and heavy plant to undertake civil construction and infrastructure maintenance across the Shire.

Reporting to the Works team, you will work safely and efficiently on roads, drainage, paths, bridges and street furniture, with licences and tickets, the ability to work in a team or alone, and a willingness to perform manual labour.

Qualifications

• Valid Victorian Driver's Licence is essential.
• Heavy Combination Licence highly regarded.
• Plant & Equipment tickets and licences required.
• Basic computer skills are desirable.
• Knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques.
• Experience operating construction plant and specialist equipment safely.
• Ability to work in a team or independently with minimal supervision.
• Willingness and physical capacity for manual labour.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.

About the Opportunity Council is seeking a Plant Operator on a 3-month seasonal contract with demonstrated ability to operate a variety of medium and heavy mechanical plant. This position is based out of Council’s Heywood depot and offers 9-day fortnight which provides a great work-life balance while contributing to essential community services. As part of the Works team, the Plant Operator is responsible for undertaking a range of civil construction and infrastructure maintenance works across the Shire. The role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a range of plant to undertake tasks associated with the construction and maintenance of roads, drainage, paths, bridges, street furniture and general maintenance.
