Job summary

Cloncurry Shire Council is seeking a Plant Operator / Labourer to join our Town Streets team in the Infrastructure & Environment Department. This role supports maintenance of streets, parks and public spaces by operating small plant and performing general labouring tasks outdoors.

You will conduct pre-start checks, follow safety guidelines and contribute to efficient, high-quality work across town streets. A MR licence, White Card and Police clearance are required; this role offers a steady

• Current MR Driver Licence is required.
• Construction White Card is mandatory before starting.
• Current Police Clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Grass cutting and maintenance of town streets, parks, gardens and open spaces.
• Street maintenance like pothole patching, footpath repairs and kerb repairs.
• Line marking, sign maintenance and guidepost repairs.
• Litter and garbage collection across town areas.
• Slashing and vegetation management as needed.
• Operate plant and machinery within licence and competency levels.
• Conduct pre-start checks and report defects on plant/equipment.
• Identify hazards and contribute to a safe workplace.
• Assist with Council works programs as directed by Urban Works Supervisor.

Cloncurry Shire Council is seeking a Plant Operator / Labourer to join our Town Streets team within the Infrastructure & Environment Department. This role plays an important part in maintaining the presentation and functionality of Cloncurry’s streets, parks and public spaces. About the Role

The Plant Operator / Labourer – Town Streets undertakes a range of operational and labouring duties to support Council’s town maintenance and works programs. The position involves operating small plant and equipment, carrying out maintenance tasks across town streets and public areas, and ensuring works are completed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Grass cutting and maintenance of town streets, parks, gardens and open spaces
• Street maintenance activities such as pothole patching, footpath repairs and kerb and channel repairs
• Line marking, sign maintenance and guidepost repairs
• Litter and garbage collection
• Slashing and vegetation management
• Graffiti removal and general labouring duties
• Operating plant and machinery within licence and competency levels
• Conducting pre-start checks and reporting defects on plant and equipment
• Identifying hazards and contributing to a safe workplace environment
• Assisting with Council works programs as directed by the Urban Works Supervisor

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Experience in a similar labouring or plant operator role
• Experience operating small plant and equipment such as mowers, whipper snippers or similar machinery.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong awareness of Workplace Health and Safety practices
• Good communication skills and a positive work attitude
• Ability to complete tasks within expected timeframes and maintain a high standard of work

Mandatory Requirements

• Current MR Driver Licence
• Construction White Card (required prior to commencement)
• Current Police Clearance

Desirable

• Traffic Control or Traffic Management accreditation
• HR Driver Licence
• Experience operating a range of plant and machinery.
