Job summary

Mildura Rural City Council is seeking a hands-on supervisor to deliver road construction and maintenance projects from the Red Cliffs Depot. You will supervise crews, operate plant and equipment, coordinate resources and liaise with customers to ensure safe, efficient works to council standards.

The role requires a strong civil construction background, relevant licences and tickets, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Civil Construction (Plant Operations) or equivalent civil and plant operation experience.
• Current Driver Licence with Heavy Combination endorsement, with experience operating semi-trailer and tip truck and dog trailer combination.
• Certificate of competency for operation of skid steer loader and front-end loader, with experience and ability to operate a grader and compaction equipment.
• Extensive experience in road maintenance for sealed and unsealed roads including drainage and construction works and ability to survey and read plans.
• Traffic Controller ticket and ability to set out temporary traffic control signage in accordance with AS1742 part 3 - 2019.
• Construction Induction Card (Work Safe Victoria) and ability to obtain Police Check prior to employment.
• Police Check or willing to obtain prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with customers to ensure service standards are met.
• Assist works teams and ensure safety and compliance with council requirements.
• Based at the Red Cliffs Depot and contribute to efficient project delivery.

Join our team and play a key role in delivering road construction and maintenance projects through crew supervision, plant operation and customer-focused service.

About the Opportunity

Support the delivery of road construction and maintenance activities through the supervision of work crews, operation of plant and equipment, coordination of resources, customer liaison, and assistance to works teams. Based at the Red Cliffs Depot, this role ensures works are completed safely, efficiently and to Council's required service standards.

What you will bring

Ideally the successful applicant will have the following:

• Certificate III in Civil Construction (Plant Operations) or equivalent civil and plant operation experience. Experience in the field of road maintenance and associated activities.
• Current Driver Licence with Heavy Combination endorsement, with experience operating semi-trailer and tip truck and dog trailer combination.
• Hold a certificate of competency for the operation of a skid steer loader and front-end loader, with experience and ability to operate a grader and compaction equipment.
• Demonstrated extensive experience of road maintenance activities associated with sealed and unsealed roads including drainage and construction works and ability to be able to survey and read plans.
• Hold a current Traffic Controller ticket and have the ability to set out temporary traffic control signage in accordance with Australian Standards AS1742 part 3 - 2019.
• Hold a current Construction Induction Card accredited by Work Safe Victoria
• Hold a current satisfactory Police Check or willing to obtain prior to employment.

Salary and Conditions

The position is classified within Band 5 of Council’s Current Enterprise Agreement commencing at $86,878 including industry allowance and maintenance allowance plus statutory superannuation.
