Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a seasoned project scheduler in Australia to support development, proposals and contract negotiations through planning and scheduling activities. You will develop and maintain schedules, establish work logic, monitor progress, identify risks and support recovery planning.

This role requires coordinating with project teams, reviewing contractor schedules, and contributing to successful delivery of major infrastructure objectives.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of planning and scheduling principles and tools for major infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 including schedule development and reporting.
  • Experience reviewing contractor schedules and mitigating schedule risks.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares schedule data for proposals or contract negotiations.
  • Maintains the schedule for a specific discipline and ensures proper logic.
  • Develops WBS, duration estimates, and cost-related schedules.
  • Monitors schedule progress and identifies critical activities.
  • Produces critical path reports and performance metrics.
  • Identifies risks and coordinates mitigation actions.
  • Reviews subcontractor schedules and validates alignments.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will support project development, proposals or contract negotiations through planning and scheduling activities. You will develop and maintain schedules, establish work logic, monitor progress, identify risks and constraints, and support recovery planning. Working closely with project teams, you will review contractor schedules, analyse schedule performance, and contribute to the successful delivery of project objectives.

"This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership”

Major Responsibilities:
  • Prepares schedule data for proposals or contract negotiations
  • Establishes and maintains the schedule for a specific discipline area or specialty
  • Performs schedule development duties to include establishing the work breakdown structure (WBS), determining the work activity duration, establishing the proper workflow logic ties, and developing the required job expenditure
  • Performs schedule monitoring, including identifying critical activities and updating functions for specific applications, disciplines, or specialties
  • Develops critical path schedule reports and schedule performance metrics
  • Determines critical-path activities for assigned discipline or specialty work activities supporting interdisciplinary requirements
  • Identifies and reports activities that have a critical or potential impact on the schedule
  • Monitors and validates subcontractor schedules
  • Evaluates subcontractor schedules for required workarounds or potential schedule improvements
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of planning and scheduling principles, methodologies, and tools for major infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, including schedule development, critical path analysis, progress measurement, and reporting.
  • Understanding of multidisciplinary engineering and design interfaces and project delivery processes.
  • Experience reviewing contractor schedules, analysing schedule performance, and identifying schedule risks and mitigation actions.
  • Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Relevant experience in project planning and scheduling within infrastructure, transport, rail, or construction environments.
