Job description

About the role

We're looking for a skilled Pipeline Operator Technician to join our Queensland Gas Pipeline (QGP) operations team.

In this hands-on role, you'll help operate and maintain critical gas transmission infrastructure, including pipelines, compressor stations, facilities, instrumentation, and electrical systems.

Working a 14 days on / 14 days off roster, you'll enjoy genuine work-life balance while building your expertise across a diverse asset base. We welcome FIFO, DIDO, and local candidates, with accommodation provided during rostered periods.

No two days are the same. You could be troubleshooting instrumentation faults, maintaining Solar turbines and gas-powered equipment, conducting inspections, supporting commissioning activities, responding to operational issues, or working alongside contractors and engineering teams to improve asset performance.

You'll join a small, experienced team responsible for maintaining the Queensland Gas Pipeline and associated facilities. With significant investment planned across the network, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to major asset renewal, reliability, and improvement projects.

If you enjoy technical problem-solving, working autonomously, and taking ownership of critical infrastructure, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.

Key Responsibilities include
  • Perform planned and corrective maintenance across pipeline facilities and compressor stations
  • Diagnose faults and troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical equipment
  • Maintain and operate compressors, turbines, valves, meters, and associated assets
  • Conduct pipeline patrols, inspections, and asset surveillance activities
  • Respond to breakdowns, incidents, and emergency situations
  • Support commissioning, construction, and asset improvement projects
  • Liaise with contractors, landholders, regulators, and key stakeholders
  • Participate in the on-call roster supporting a 24/7 operation

Roster: 14 Days On / 14 Days Off | FIFO/DIDO role providing operational coverage across the Queensland Gas Pipeline. Accommodation is provided at our Rolleston and Moura bases during rostered periods. To support operational requirements, all employees, including local candidates, stay at the accommodation bases for the duration of their roster.

Culture & Benefits
  • Be recognised and rewarded through our Incentivise program
  • Supportive team environment with a strong depot and social culture
  • 20 days annual leave plus 10+ days personal leave
  • Help drive Australia’s net zero future by delivering critical infrastructure projects that shape the energy and utilities industry
About You

You're an Electrical & Instrumentation professional who enjoys working in the field, solving technical problems, and taking ownership of your work. You'll bring:

  • Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician (essential)
  • Certificate III or IV in Instrumentation & Control (essential)
  • Current QLD (or equivalent Australian) Electrical Licence (essential)
  • Current Driver's Licence and White Card (essential)
  • Experience in maintenance or operations within gas, energy, utilities, processing plants, manufacturing, resources, or similar industrial environments
  • Experience with compressors, rotating equipment, gas processing facilities, or industrial plant assets
  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills across electrical and instrumentation systems
