Job summary

Switch Care Solutions is seeking a registered physiotherapist for a full-time fixed-term role across residential aged care sites in Kempsey and Wauchope, NSW. You will assess residents, deliver tailored exercise programs and contribute to falls prevention and AN-ACC tasks.

The position runs from 2 November 2026 to 14 January 2028, with principal placements in Kempsey initially and later in Wauchope, including supervision and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Hold general registration as a physiotherapist with AHPRA or eligible for supervised-practice registration.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in aged care or complex community settings.
• Hold a valid Australian driver's licence and have access to a reliable vehicle.

Physiotherapist – Residential Aged Care (Full Time, Fixed Term)

This is a full-time, fixed-term physiotherapist position from 2 November 2026 to 14 January 2028, working principally across a residential aged care facility in Kempsey and Wauchope. From commencement until approximately 8 May 2027, the successful applicant will be principally based at the facility in Kempsey, providing physiotherapy services during an employee's maternity leave absence. From approximately 9 May 2027, the facility in Wauchope is expected to become the applicant's principal placement, with work continuing at the facility in Kempsey where required. The successful applicant will provide physiotherapy services to residential aged-care residents, working with residents, care staff and multidisciplinary teams to improve mobility, independence and quality of life. As permitted by their registration status and supervision arrangements, they will progressively assume responsibility for the clinical caseload, falls prevention, AN-ACC-related physiotherapy assessments and staff capability building.

Key responsibilities

Assess residents' physical and functional capacity and develop tailored physiotherapy programs

Deliver 1:1 and group-based exercise, rehabilitation and reablement programs

Lead and contribute to falls prevention strategies and review meetings

Contribute physiotherapy assessments and clinical documentation relevant to residents' AN-ACC classifications

Provide manual handling training and guidance to relevant aged care staff

Maintain high-quality, timely clinical documentation

Maintain a professional and collaborative relationship with residents, facility management, staff and residents' families

Respond promptly to resident needs, including post-fall or clinical deterioration

Comply with work health and safety requirements applying at each work location

About you

Hold, or be able to obtain, the Australian work rights required for the position

Hold general registration as a physiotherapist with AHPRA, or be eligible to obtain limited registration permitting employment under an AHPRA-approved supervised-practice arrangement

Where limited registration applies, be willing to participate in structured supervision, competency assessment and professional development in accordance with the supervision level and conditions approved by AHPRA

Hold a current Australian driver's licence, or be able to obtain one before commencing employment, and have access to a reliable vehicle

Minimum 3 years' experience (aged care or complex community preferred)

Strong clinical reasoning and ability to translate assessments into practical interventions

Experience or interest in falls prevention and reablement

High standard of written documentation

Ability to take appropriate responsibility for clinical outcomes and progressively work with greater autonomy as competence is demonstrated

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Competitive remuneration of $80,000–$110,000 per annum plus superannuation, commensurate with registration status, supervision requirements, experience and capability
