About the role

HPS is seeking a technology-focused Informatics Pharmacist to join our national Digital Systems team.

Working across pharmacy practice, operations and technology, you will help manage and improve HPS pharmacy system applications and digital workflows. You will act as a pharmacy subject matter expert, ensuring solutions are safe, practical and aligned with operational and regulatory requirements.

The role includes project delivery and business-as-usual activities such as system configuration, testing, incident support, documentation and regular end-user training.

Key responsibilities
  • Support and optimise HPS pharmacy system applications.
  • Translate clinical and operational needs into clear system and workflow requirements.
  • Configure, test and validate system changes, integrations, upgrades and new functionality.
  • Deliver end-user training as part of BAU activities, including onboarding, refresher training and education following system changes.
  • Develop and maintain user guides, work instructions, test scripts and training materials.
  • Support digital health, automation, AI and system integration projects.
  • Investigate complex system issues and coordinate resolution with IT teams and vendors.
  • Identify opportunities to improve medication safety, data quality, user experience and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy teams, hospital stakeholders, corporate functions and technology partners.
About you

You are a registered pharmacist with a strong interest in digital health and using technology to improve pharmacy practice. You are analytical, detail-oriented and confident working with clinical, operational and technical stakeholders.

  • Pharmacy qualification and current general registration with AHPRA.
  • Strong understanding of pharmacy practice, medication safety and professional requirements.
  • High level of digital literacy and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver end-user training.
  • Ability to document requirements, processes and system issues clearly.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated interest in pharmacy informatics, digital health or technology-enabled process improvement.
  • Hospital pharmacy experience and an understanding of hospital medication management workflows.
  • Experience using pharmacy related information systems, particularly i.Pharmacy or other HPS pharmacy system applications.
  • Experience in pharmacy informatics, digital health, system implementation or application support.
  • Experience with system configuration, functional testing, regression testing or user acceptance testing.
  • Experience developing training materials or delivering system training to end users.
  • Familiarity with healthcare integration, data, reporting, SQL or basic programming knowledge.
  • Postgraduate qualifications or professional development in digital health, health informatics or a related field.
  • Influence digital pharmacy practice across a national pharmacy network.
  • Work on initiatives involving AI, automation and digital medication management.
  • Apply your pharmacy expertise beyond traditional pharmacy practice.
  • Build specialist capability in pharmacy informatics and digital health.
