Job summary

Sydney Local Health District is seeking a Pharmacist Grade 1/2 to provide pharmaceutical care for inpatients and assist in service areas at Canterbury Hospital. The role rotates between clinical duties and pharmacy support, contributing to education and medicines information services for patients and staff.

Applicants must hold current Pharmacist registration with AHPRA (or be eligible for immediate registration) and demonstrate ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Current Pharmacist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), or eligible for immediate registration, and able to practice independently.
• Ability to apply current and good practical therapeutic knowledge in a clinical environment.
• Demonstrated ongoing commitment to the professional development relevant to areas of practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality pharmaceutical services to inpatients and outpatients, rotating between clinical and service area rosters.
• Support dispensaries and production; deliver medicines information to patients and health professionals; participate in multi-disciplinary teams.

About the Role

The Grade 1/2 Pharmacist is responsible for the provision of quality pharmaceutical services to inpatients and outpatients. Grade 1 and 2, rotate between the clinical & service area rosters. On clinical duties they provide pharmaceutical care to inpatients and in the service areas they provide pharmacy support to the dispensaries and production. Pharmacists, Grade 1 and 2, provide education and medicines information services to patients and other health care professionals and participate as active members of multi-disciplined teams.

Ideal Candidate

• Current Pharmacist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), or eligible for immediate registration, and able to practice independently. Grade 2 Pharmacists must meet the criteria set out in the Award and are expected to be able to demonstrate continual ability to meet three of the five competencies within the Award.
• Ability to apply current and good practical therapeutic knowledge in a clinical environment.
• Demonstrated ongoing commitment to the professional development relevant to areas of practice.
