Job summary

Queensland Government's Cairns Hospital Pharmacy Department seeks a pharmacist to lead medication safety and drive innovative care models across clinical areas. The role emphasizes strategic leadership and collaboration with staff to implement improvements in medication safety.

The successful candidate will contribute to workforce planning, develop educational resources, and produce high-quality clinical reports, ensuring medico-legal compliance and timely documentation in a busy hospital

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and change management to support local implementation of innovative models of care by engaging stakeholders, developing appropriate educational support materials and resources and effectively communicating new developments and outcomes for Medication Safety.
• Actively contribute to workforce planning and resource management to meet service requirements.
• Produce high quality written clinical reports, documents, service reports and oral presentations as required and facilitate the completion of accurate and timely patient specific documentation, ensuring medico-legal requirements are met.
• Apply advanced level independent professional judgment regarding the assessment and development of medication safety and quality systems for the treatment of complex patients and services.

About us:The Pharmacy Department at Cairns Hospital provides a pharmacy service to the clinical areas of the hospital. Current services provided include outpatient pharmacy services, clinical pharmacy services to inpatient areas of Cairns Hospital, an extensive imprest service, clinical trials, and some educational services.We're committed to improving the health and wellbeing of people in Far North Queensland by providing high quality acute health care services.Our values were developed by our staff, patients and community.
