Job summary

The ACT Parks and Conservation Service is seeking a Pest Animal Officer to lead the ACT rabbit management program and support vertebrate pest and overabundant wildlife initiatives. The role involves building stakeholder relationships, delivering practical pest management advice, and maintaining robust program records to support biodiversity conservation across the ACT.

Qualifications

• Be prepared to wear a uniform.
• Able and willing to undertake after hours and incident management duties.
• Current class C manual driver’s license, with 4WD experience.
• Chemical application AQF3 accreditation (or ability to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the ACT rabbit management program and support the delivery of other vertebrate pest and overabundant wildlife management programs as required.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with key stakeholders.
• Provide technical advice on vertebrate pest impacts and management.
• Manage contractors and budgets.
• Maintain accurate program records.

Education

Tertiary qualification (diploma or degree) in environmental management or equivalent
