Job summary

Consolidated Power Projects Australia is expanding its Perth engineering hub and seeking a Principal Primary Engineer to lead high‑voltage substation design across national projects. You will guide detailed studies, specify equipment layouts, and mentor a growing team within CPP’s WA operations.

The role reports to the WA Engineering Manager, with responsibilities including interstate travel and collaboration with construction and operations to ensure practical, buildable designs.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or equivalent and Chartered Status (or ability to achieve upon commencement).
• 10+ years experience in the HV power transmission industry.
• Proven background in producing detailed engineering studies in at least one of: System Studies (Load Flow, Short Circuit, Arc Flash, LV Protection Coordination), Earthing System Designs, EMF/LFI Designs, Insulation Coordination Studies, HV cable sizing.
• Expertise in primary engineering design including conductor and busbar sizing, short circuit forces, lightning protection and equipment layouts.
• Natural leadership qualities and ability to bring out the best in others.
• Based in Perth or willing to relocate (relocation assistance available).

Responsibilities

• Lead the production of detailed engineering studies for HV substations and transmission projects.
• Apply advanced primary design skills including conductor and busbar sizing and equipment layouts.
• Foster a collaborative environment to grow the Perth engineering hub and CPP capabilities.
• Undertake interstate travel to project sites and offices to build strong stakeholder relationships.
