Bolton Clarke is recruiting a Personal Care Worker to support residents with daily personal care, hygiene, mobility, and emotional well-being in a not-for-profit aged care setting across Queensland. The role emphasizes a person-centered approach and collaborative teamwork with families and care staff.

No formal qualifications are required, but experience in cleaning or personal care for elderly or disabled individuals is preferred.

The Personal Care Worker is responsible for attending to the personal care needs of customers, focusing on those requiring additional assistance due to physical limitations or frailty. The role provides manual handling support, delivers activities that enhance physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development, and supervises daily hygiene routines. They report changes in customers’ physical and emotional conditions and advocate for residents’ wellbeing through effective collaboration with families and the care team.

Responsibilities: Focuses on customers and residents using person centered approach, demonstrates values of patience, empathy and listening and respects the customer’s diverse and unique needs. Attends to the personal care needs of customers, with a focus on those requiring additional support due to specific physical limitations or frailty. Identifies and reports changes in customers’ circumstances and capacity to more senior staff members, monitors and records clients’ vital signs and assists with medication management, including reminders and administration as prescribed. Provides manual handling assistance to customers with daily tasks, supports customers with daily hygiene routines, including showers or baths, shaving, and nail care. Assists customers with their aids, such as applying surgical/support stockings or operating a tens machine. Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of clients’ care, including daily logs, incident reports, and care plans. Provides emotional support and companionship to customer’s, engages in conversations and activities to promote mental well-being and encourages their participation in social activities. Advocates for residents’ wellbeing and care through exceptional customer service and effective collaboration with residents, families, and the care team. Maintains a schedule of proactive check-ins to ensure residents are comfortable and their individual needs are being addressed. Ensures call bells and other requests by residents and families are addressed promptly and effectively.

Work Experience & Qualifications: No qualifications required. Previous cleaning experience. Previous experience in providing personal care services to individuals with physical or mental disabilities, elderly or chronically ill patients is preferred.

Certification: Prescribed: Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) Preferred: Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing). Essential conditions: Federal Police Clearance must be attained and declaration made of any future charges or convictions that could potentially affect your role within Bolton Clarke. May be required to travel intra or interstate with overnight stays (including weekends) on short notice.

Additional conditions: Home Community Support staff require current drivers licence valid in the state or territory in which employment is based and will maintain a drivers licence during employment.

Safety and wellbeing: Workers take reasonable care not to place at risk the health and safety of anyone in the workplace; comply with all reasonable instructions and directions given for the purpose of work health and safety; assist in the development and implementation of local work health and safety procedures; report all workplace hazards and incidents to the direct manager/supervisor; actively participate in work health and safety training and development activities; in the event that a hazard is not being appropriately controlled after reporting to the line manager/supervisor, report the hazard to the safety and wellbeing advisor/representative and/or work health and safety consultant; advise the line manager/supervisor where a personal medical condition, injury or disability may lead to health and safety risks, including risks to clients, co-workers or others.
