Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a dedicated Support Worker in Newcastle, NSW, Australia, to help young adults with complex learning difficulties develop independence and life skills. The role is permanent with both full-time and part-time opportunities, based in a community centre and local activities.

The ideal candidate will have experience in person-centred care, strong communication, and a patient, enthusiastic attitude to support daily living and personal development in a supportive team

Qualifications

• Relevant Health and Social Care qualification would be desirable.
• Experience supporting young adults with complex learning difficulties or additional needs.
• An understanding of person-centred care and promoting independence.
• Confidence supporting individuals with community activities and preparing for adulthood skills.
• Excellent communication skills and a patient, caring approach.
• A positive, flexible and enthusiastic attitude towards supporting young adults.

Responsibilities

• Support young adults with complex learning difficulties through community activities, practical life skills and everyday experiences, encouraging independence, social interaction and personal development.
• Work in a community centre and across the local community to provide opportunities for skill development.
