Job summary

NSW Health's Cessnock District Hospital is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse with perioperative Scrub/Scout experience to join the Circulating/ instrument nurse team. You will support safe surgical care across the perioperative journey and work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists and the broader team to deliver high-quality care.

You will bring current AHPRA registration, strong clinical judgement, infection prevention knowledge and the ability to prioritise in a dynamic theatre environment.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
• Demonstrated Scrub/Scout experience in a perioperative setting.
• Strong clinical judgement and ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to infection prevention and patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Work as a Scrub/Scout Registered Nurse, including circulating and instrument roles.
• Provide safe, high-quality nursing care throughout the perioperative journey.
• Prepare and maintain the operating theatre, equipment and instrumentation for procedures.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary perioperative team to support theatre operations.
• Anticipate needs of the surgical team and respond to changing clinical situations.
• Maintain infection prevention and patient safety standards.
• Complete surgical counts and documentation accurately.
• Advocate for patients and uphold their dignity, privacy and wellbeing.
• Contribute to a positive team environment through communication and collaboration.
• Participate in ongoing education and professional development.
