Job summary

Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service invites applications for an experienced perioperative nurse in Gladstone. The role delivers advanced clinical care with autonomy across elective and emergency theatre settings, supporting patient safety and outcomes.

You will coordinate theatre operations, liaise with surgeons and anaesthetists, manage lists and emergencies, and lead staff development in a dynamic perioperative environment.

Qualifications

• Hold current registration as a Registered Nurse with the NMBA through AHPRA, with relevant postgraduate qualifications well regarded.
• Demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge in perioperative nursing including anaesthetic, scrub/scout and/or PACU practice.
• Apply expert assessment, care planning, coordination and critical thinking to deliver safe perioperative care.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced clinical nursing care with autonomy and accountability.
• Coordinate theatre operations with the Nurse Unit Manager and support efficient patient flow.
• Liaise with surgeons, anaesthetists and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate lists and manage emergencies.
• Manage theatre scheduling and patient information using ORMIS.
• Provide clinical leadership and staff development through mentoring and education.
