North Melbourne Kangaroos is a modern AFL football club based in the beating heart of urban, inner-city North Melbourne. At the Kangaroos we are known for our fighting spirit – a bold and never beaten attitude that has won us six premierships and allowed us to achieve the extraordinary together. We are a diverse and inclusive club; a family where everyone belongs, united by our fighting spirit.

We are proud to be the first sporting club in Australia to achieve B Corp certification – a recognition of our bold commitment to social responsibility, community impact and doing business for good.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The People & Culture Coordinator is responsible for providing the day-to-day support that helps our people and culture function thrive, ensuring our employees feel supported, connected and set up for success throughout their employment journey.

Reporting to the GM - People & Culture, this role will:

  • Play a key role in creating exceptional employee experiences by coordinating the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding and induction through to engagement, recognition and offboarding.
  • Own the onboarding process for new team members, ensuring every employee receives a seamless and welcoming start to their journey at the club.
  • Help drive a positive workplace culture through the delivery of staff recognition programs, milestone celebrations and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Coordinate staff wellbeing and connection activities to bring our people together.
  • Manage and enhance key people systems and processes, maintaining HR platforms, employee data and internal communications to support an outstanding employee experience.
  • Support compliance and workforce education programs, helping ensure employees complete mandatory training, registrations and safeguarding requirements.
  • Contribute to a range of People & Culture projects and initiatives, partnering with leaders across all teams to support a high-performing, values-driven workforce.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are looking for a proactive and highly organised People & Culture professional who thrives on building positive employee experiences and delivering exceptional service. You'll be a collaborative team player with strong communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.

The successful candidate will also have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management or a related discipline.
  • 1-2 years' experience in a People & Culture, Human Resources or similar coordination role.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the confidence to engage with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • A solutions-focused mindset, with demonstrated problem-solving skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Sound understanding of employment legislation, including the Fair Work Act and Modern Awards, with HRIS experience highly regarded.
  • A genuine alignment with our values, bringing authenticity, resilience, initiative and a strong team-first approach.

Our ideal candidate can work a wide array of hours with a varying time schedule to suit the seasonal priorities of the football industry. Some interstate travel is required.

The successful candidate is required to undergo and pass a police check, and hold a current and valid Victorian Working with Children’s Check.

WHY NORTH?

You won't just be joining a People & Culture team, you'll be joining a club full of passionate people committed to helping each other, our athletes and our community thrive.

You'll have the opportunity to do meaningful work, continue to develop your career and contribute to an organisation that is making an impact both on and off the field.

In return, we offer flexible working arrangements, professional development opportunities, wellbeing support, generous leave provisions, club membership benefits and the chance to be part of a team that genuinely cares about its people.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITY
