Job summary

Flourish Australia in Lithgow is seeking a Peer Worker or Mental Health Worker to support people with lived experience to achieve recovery goals. The role is casual and based in Lithgow, with a Monday to Friday schedule.

You will engage in recovery conversations, help people access activities, and promote independence, using strengths-based, person-centred approaches. The position sits under the Flourish Australia Enterprise Agreement (2018) Level 3, with hourly rates of $40.49–$43.42 plus super

Qualifications

• Certificate IV or higher in a relevant field is required.
• Minimum 2 years full-time experience in the human services field.
• Personal lived experience of a mental health challenge and recovery (Peer Worker only).
• Demonstrated alignment to Flourish Australia’s values.
• Current Australian Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel locally.
• Commitment to recovery-based practice in the workplace.

Responsibilities

The position available is:

• Casual

• Based in Lithgow

• Working Monday to Friday

• Level 3 on the Flourish Australia Enterprise Agreement (2018) hourly rates equivalent to $40.49 - $43.42/hour+ Super + 25% Casual Loading!

About the Opportunity

As aMental Health Worker or Peer Worker, you will support people accessing our services who have a lived experience of mental health challenges to achieve their hopes and dreams. You will play an important part in assisting people tomaintain wellness and realise their goals. On a day to day basis you will:

• Effectively and appropriately hold recovery and social citizenship conversations with people who access our services

• Listen to and create opportunities and activities that meet the interests and goals of people

• Effectively and appropriately guide and support each individual in their recovery and be strengths, ability and possibility focused, whilst ensuring they are the leads in their own recovery journey

• Ensure that individual support is provided to a person that accesses Flourish Australia services that meet their recovery journey goals and is strengths based and led by the person wherever possible

• Support the person to access activities and opportunities that promote independence

• Support skill development at every opportunity through self-directed learning, information, training, and education

Selection Criteria

Essential:

• Hold a Certificate IV or above in a relevant field OR a minimum of 2-years full-time experience working in the human services field (as recognised by Flourish Australia).

• Demonstrated alignment to Flourish Australia’s values.

• A personal lived experience of a mental health challenge and recovery and willingness to be able to effectively, respectfully, and appropriately use your lived experience of a mental health challenge and recovery (Peer Worker only).

• A strong commitment to recovery-based practice in the workplace.

• Maintain a current Australian Driver’s Licence(and willingness to travel locally for community-based support)
