Job summary

Flourish Australia invites applications for a Peer Worker or Mental Health Worker to join the Specialist Homelessness Service. Based in Moree or Inverell, full-time 76 hours per fortnight, Monday to Friday, you will support people with lived experience of mental health challenges to achieve their hopes and goals.

The role emphasizes recovery-based practice, reducing stigma, and using your lived experience to build trust and mutual respect.

Qualifications

• Hold a Certificate IV or above in a relevant field or a minimum of 2 years full-time experience in human services.
• Demonstrated alignment to Flourish Australia’s values.
• A personal lived experience of a mental health challenge and recovery and willingness to use lived experience (Peer Worker).
• A strong commitment to recovery-based practice in the workplace.
• Maintain a current Australian Driver’s Licence.

Responsibilities

• Support people accessing our services with lived experience of mental health challenges to achieve their hopes and goals.
• Guide and support each individual in their recovery, focusing on strengths and mutual ownership of the recovery journey.
• Contribute to decreasing stigma and discrimination around having lived experience of a mental health challenge.
