Job summary

The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne is seeking a Permanent, Full-Time Social Worker to provide social and emotional assessment, support and intervention for children and families at Victoria’s leading paediatric hospital.

You will join the Social Work Department, delivering high quality clinical care, contributing to discharge planning and community referrals while supporting vulnerable families in crisis. A Social Work degree and AASW eligibility are essential.

Qualifications

• Social Work Degree from an accredited University/Course.
• Eligibility for membership of AASW and meet AASW CPE accreditation standards.
• Clinical experience in related field of practice.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality clinical care to children and families with complex medical/psychosocial needs.
• Contribute to timely decision making, transition or discharge planning, and referrals to community providers.
• Support and counseling for vulnerable children and families in crisis including trauma, family violence, grief and loss.
• Engage in quality improvement to enhance Social Work services for patients and families.
