Job summary

The Royal Children's Hospital Social Work Department is seeking a part-time, fixed-term Social Worker to deliver expert psychosocial assessment and intervention for patients and families in the Banksia inpatient unit. You will play a pivotal role within a multidisciplinary team to improve timely access to supports both at the hospital and in the community.

The role includes some after-hours on-call duties, requires AASW eligibility, and offers pro-rata salary based on a fixed-term 12-month

Qualifications

• Eligibility for membership of AASW and meet AASW CPE accreditation standards
• Extensive experience in Social Work, including clinical expertise and leadership
• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to support vulnerable children, trauma and grief
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and articulate the social work role
• Some out-of-hours work in the on-call after hours social work service to the hospital

Responsibilities

• Provide expert psychosocial assessment and intervention to patients and their families
• Lead and contribute to timely decision making, transition or discharge planning and referrals
• Support vulnerable young people and families in crisis situations including trauma and family violence
• Provide leadership and mentorship within the Social Work Department
