The Role
As a Payroll Trainee, you’ll provide administrative and operational support to the Payroll Officer and the Finance Team, helping ensure accurate and timely payroll processing and employee support. You’ll gain practical experience across payroll, employee onboarding, timesheet checks, WHS processes, and general administration.
Responsibilities
Reception Duties
- Serve as the main point of contact for inbound calls
- Answer calls promptly within the specified ring time
- Respond to queries with accurate information
- Direct calls to the appropriate person
Payroll Support
- Contact employees regarding timesheet submissions
- Liaise with host employers for approvals
- Send pre-drafted emails and text messages to employees and hosts
- Review employee onboarding documents
- Prepare reports as instructed
- Maintain the employee control sheet
WHS Support
- Book inspections, meetings, and appointments, and communicate with WHS coordinator
- Ensure the inspection calendar is accurate and up to date
- Maintain inspection control sheet
- Collate inspection records and photos, and file/save appropriately
- Learn to calculate PIAWE
Timesheet & Payroll Assistance
- Learn and understand basics of Modern Awards and EBA
- Understand pay rates and work conditions
- Review timesheets to ensure data accuracy and compliance
- Learn basic payroll operations in Workforce One
Employee Maintenance Workflows
- Understand key control points within employee workflows
- Process new starters, rotations, terminations, and suspensions
- Implement yearly rate changes

No prior payroll experience? No worries! Full training will be provided.
